A family home on Scotland’s west coast, Tigh na Dobhran commands sweeping views out across Loch Melfort. The house sits alone above the Shuna pier and its tidal skerry, with wooded hillside at its back.
To anchor the house amid these expanses we took the beach as inspiration: a place where driftwood lodges among rocks and concrete meets water.
Thick, creamy internal walls give refuge against the wilderness, exposed by cool grey windows. Past shady ‘caves’ and patches of sunlight, the layout leads visitors on a journey towards the sea.
